The duties of a home health care provider can vary the treatments prescribed for a patient. Social work, nutritional information and administration of medication are just a few of the types of services offered by home health professionals. Workers hold licenses in their field such as medical licenses, nursing certifications and specialized medical training.

Therapy

Physical, occupational and speech therapy are some of the areas available as in-home health care. These professionals help patients that have had injuries or have suffered disabilities that require rehabilitation.

Nursing

Registered nurses and licensed practical nurses provide care such as administering injections, intravenous medication and wound care.

Physicians

In-home doctors provide the same level of care found in an office or hospital setting. Doctors can prescribe medication, provide referrals to specialists and manage a patient's treatment plans.

Aides

Home health aides assist patients in basic daily tasks such as bathing, dressing and getting out of bed. Homemakers and companions may help with household tasks like cleaning and providing sitting services.
