Most hair is strong enough to withstand consecutive color and frost treatments; however, hair that has been previously colored, permed or otherwise damaged might sustain irreparable damage during back-to-back color applications. If the frosted portions are over processed, the hair will be hard to style, mushy in texture and may fall out completely.

    On the Other: Foil Technique

A color application technique called foiling allows you to place color and frosting solutions on the hair simultaneously. Instead of adding color all over and then bleaching certain portions, foiling allows you to darken and lift hair in a single process. This application technique is much safer for the hair and quicker for you.

    Bottom Line

You can color and frost your hair on the same day. If you must apply two treatments for simplicity's sake, make sure that your hair is strong enough to withstand it. Perform a strand test by removing a strand of hair and applying the color solutions to it as you would if you were coloring your hair. If at all possible, foil. It is much safer.
