<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Portable Camera Functionality
As of January 2010, the camera peripherals available for the PlayStation Portable (PSP) offer the ability to take up to 40,000 photos. They also offer video recording capabilities (2.5 hours on a 4-gigabyte Sony memory stick) and can be very useful for aspiring filmmakers who are on a budget.
On the Other: Expensive and Difficult to Find
Sony only released its PSP-compatible cameras in Asia and select PAL-video-standard countries, such as the United Kingdom. In Japan, it was called the Chotto Shot. It was called the PSP Go! Cam everywhere else. Like all other PSP items, they are not region coded and can be used with all PSPs in the world. Due to their scarcity, they can be quite expensive when found. They also only boast a maximum picture quality of 1.3 megapixels.
Bottom Line
It is absolutely possible to connect a camera to a PSP, because Sony issued official camera peripherals for this device. However, whether or not the combined price and limitations make it worth it is a decision best left to the individual.
