Milkweed, or Asclepias tuberosa, seeds are poisonous. Parts of the milkweed plant, however, have been used as medicine by native Americans. Monarch butterflies are immune to the toxins in milkweed, and the plant makes these butterflies poisonous to animals that may want to eat them.
