Plastic dryer balls are not entirely safe for the planet because they are often made from PVC. Plus, it is important to not get caught up in the hype made by manufacturers of laundry dryer balls. According to Consumer Reports, dryer balls don't work any better than fabric softener or dryer sheets.

You will probably reduce some amount of laundry-product consumption using laundry dryer balls, but if you are looking for an entirely safe alternative, you need to keep searching for other alternatives.
