Weight Watchers is a weight loss program that assigns set values to different food items to help people lose weight. The set number of points each person is allowed to eat each day is based on their current weight. The program can work for anyone who uses it correctly.
Goals
Before starting Weight Watchers you come up with a weight goal you'd like to meet. You track your progress and hit milestones when you've lost 10 percent of your total weight and when you've reached your goal weight.
Foods to Eat
You can eat anything on Weight Watchers as long as you hold yourself accountable for it. As you count your points, you also count how many fruits and veggies, milk products, oils and liquids you have. You have a set number of each to get in your diet each day.
Approach
The Weight Watchers program is based on four things: eating smarter, moving more, developing helpful habits and getting support. The program is more a lifestyle change than a diet.
Time Frame
The time it takes a person to lose weight is different for everyone, depending on their starting weight and how closely they follow the plan. Everyone weighs in once a week to monitor their progress.
Support
Weight Watchers has online plans, at-home plans and specific plans for men. Members who attend weekly support meetings are said to lose more weight. For more information on their plan types, visit Weightwatchers.com.
