Family law is not a required course to become an attorney. Most do not, planning to go into a corporate law firm, but when they do, they get struck with all the cases the more experienced attorneys don't like doing, family law. Most laws schools only offer a rudimentary course in it. It's rare to find a family law attorney who planned to be one from the beginning.
