Almond oil is used in some eardrops as a base. Almond oil softens ear wax naturally, so it is able to dislodge from the ear canal on its own. According to the American Academy of Family Physicians, place three drops of almond oil in the affected ear at bedtime for three to four days.
In some cases, almond oil eardrops should be avoided. For instance, if you have a perforated eardrum, do not use almond oil eardrops. Additionally, sometimes ear wax becomes impacted and requires medical intervention for removal.
Generally, as long as you have no known ear problems and you do not have a perforated eardrum, you can try to remove ear wax with almond oil. If the problem persists, contact your physician before proceeding any further.
