The nursing professional strives to keep abreast of changes in nursing laws and regulations, new techniques and improved procedures. One way to do so is to read the American Journal of Nursing, the only nursing journal deemed one of the top 100 "Most Influential Journals in Biology & Medicine."
History
Published since 1900, the peer-reviewed American Journal of Nursing (AJN) is the world's largest circulating nursing journal.
Frequency & Cost
The AJN is published monthly. The individual rate for a year's subscription within the United States is $42.90. U.S. institutions pay $345.95 per year, and in-training personnel (currently in training or residency) pay $34.95. International rates are $118.00 for an individual and $399.00 for institutions (there is no international training rate available).
Content
Authors who contribute to the AJN write articles that count toward readers' continuing education credit and that contain commentary and news. Also covered is the practical application of current research.
Mission
The mission of the AJN is "to promote excellence in nursing and health care through the dissemination of evidence-based, peer-reviewed clinical information and original research, discussion of relevant and controversial professional issues, adherence to the standards of journalistic integrity and excellence, and promotion of nursing perspectives to the health care community and the public."
Authors
Interested AJN authors should visit the Editorial Manager site, where they may download a copy of author and manuscript guidelines. Authors must register with the site and add a bio--including name, address, affiliated institute and credentials--before submitting a manuscript. Authors who also wish to become reviewers may state this preference when registering.
