An auto air conditioner refill kit may work very well to restore your car's air conditioning if the system is not working properly solely because of low amounts of refrigerant. You must check your vehicle owner's manual to determine the refrigerant capacity and proper operating pressure of the system to ensure you add the right amount of refrigerant at the correct pressure.
On the Other: They Do Not Work for Everyone
If your car's air conditioning malfunctions due to mechanical problems, a refill kit will not help you. A refill kit may is only a temporary fix if your car's air conditioning system is leaking refrigerant. You cannot use a refill kit if your car is a model year 1994 or earlier because those vehicles need R12 refrigerant, which is no longer available to the public.
Bottom Line
Auto air conditioner refill kits may work for you if the system is in otherwise good shape with no refrigerant leaks and your car is a 1995 or later model. You should only use a refill kit if you can follow the directions exactly to avoid damaging your car.
