  • PCs now have the ability to store and display digital photos. Thanks to high- definition screens and the storage capacity of digital cameras, such photos can be incredibly detailed and lifelike. You can display your computer photos on a television too; indeed, televisions are set up to let an entire room view them, making it easier to display your pictures to a group. Many computers and modern TV sets have the proper outlets to link up, making the process extremely easy.

    The Output Jack

Disconnect your PC from its viewing monitor, then look at the output jack to which the monitor was connected. It's likely a VGA jack or a DVI jack. Both jacks are rectangular, with a set number of pinholes in them. The VGA has 15 pinholes in 3 rows of 5, while the DVI has 24 pinholes in three rows of 8. The computer may also have an S-video jack, which is circular with a black plastic center. Many types of computers have more than one output jack, allowing you to use whichever one matches your TV.

    The Input Jack

With the output jack identified, you then need to link it up with an input jack on your TV. Almost all modern TVs have an S-video input jack, and many may have a VGA and/or DVI jack as well. Check the back of the set for one which matches your PC; if it does, you need only purchase the corresponding cable. If it doesn't, then look for the television's RCA jacks, which are small and circular and come in groups of three. (They should be color coded yellow, red and white.) You can connect those to the PC using a crossover cable which matches the PC's output jack. Check computer stores and electronic stores such as Radio Shack or Best Buy to find a crossover cable which fits your TV and computer.

    Connecting

Once you have the right cable for your set up, then you need only connect the two machines to each other. When they're linked with the cable, turn on the PC, and then the television. Press the "Input" button on the TV's remote control to cycle through the various input jacks behind it. When it reaches the jack connected to your computer, you should see the computer's desktop appear on your TV screen. You can then open whichever piece of software you use to display your photos and start the show. The photos should show up on the TV as clearly as they do the computer screen. Keep in mind, however, that if you don't have a high definition TV, the pictures may not be as sharp as you might like.
