A dryer vent is a useful and modern device that accelerates the drying process of clothes. It uses a rather complex system, which is tremendously beneficial when installed correctly. However, it can't be put next to water heaters because there is a possibility that the water could enter the vent of the dryer and increase condensation. Condensation produces mildew, which deteriorates the internal system of the device. Furthermore, the high concentration of moisture may rarify the air, which can cause breathing problems to people who inhabit the household, especially children.

If you install both devices in the same place, you will save a large amount of space. However, by putting the dryer vent and the water heater at a considerable distance apart from each other, the leakage problem will be solved and the concentration of humidity will diminish (but not disappear).
