KhaosGod Is The First Human Spectre

Question

Help answer this question below.

In Japan animation is a way of life, but in America most are taught cartoons are childish. Why is this so?

I have loved animation all my life and was fortunate enough to be introduced to anime at a young enough age that I know not all cartoons are kiddie. I am just curious how one of the most important art forms not to the world is now only for children. Drawings were the first form of self expression.

Cultural expressions change. A lot of Japanese movie studios started up after WWII without the big bankrolls and backing, unlike Hollywood.

In America, animation was a cheap way to amuse children , whearas in Japan it was an art medium and focused towards adult as a cheap way to produce product.

Well for a while in America most cartoons shown were created for children. Though many adults still enjoyed them. I still love bugs bunny and the loony toons gang. Its like many things in North America they teach you that you must grow up and be responsible and work in the factory of economics. "Stop being so childish." And since coloring pictures with crayons was "only for children" people got the idea that cartoons were as well. I just don't listen to them and stay young at heart forever. Screw corporate North America give me my cartoons!

Now there are much more cartoons that are of the adult variety. Simpson's, Family Guy, American Dad, Clevland Show. And tons on the cartoon network.
