You need to know that tongue piercing can be very dangerous.

ok i just wrote a huge response to this question and had it deleted before i could post it... anyways. yes its going to hurt when you get your tongue pierced and its going to hurt for a few days. i advise drinking lots of slurpies! ice cubes will hurt though stay away from them for a while. also stay away from chewing gum for a few weeks. dont drink milk or eat any dairy products *yes this includes icecream* you also cant drink carbonated drinks because the bubbles will get into the hole and cause issues. also dont drink alcohol because alcohol kills cells and will irritate the hole. make sure to gargle warm saltwater several times throughout the day. i advise just getting a waterbottle and carrying it around with you. that seems to work the best. and make sure to use non alcohol mouthwash after eating and smoking. you only have to do this for 2-3 weeks depending on how fast your healing. dont worry about infection. i have 2 tongue piercings that i got a year apart and 13 other piercings that have never got infected. you dont have to worry about infection as long as you take care of the piercing and make sure that the people that are doing the piercing use new products and sterilize everything. if you have any more questions hit me up at www.myspace.com/ariesangel2008

It doesn't hurt too bad to get it. It will feel very strange to have jewlery in your mouth. After I had mine pierced I was a little out of it because I had so much adrenaline before the piercing and then it went away right away. I though that the ball on the barbell came off but I got used to it quickly...it did not feel so strange the next day (Just swollen!). You will sound funny when you first get it done..but mostly it will just be swollen! MAKE SURE YOU EAT OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE VERY TIRED AND WEAK!

It hurts... alot, but its bearable, at first your tounge should feel numb from the spray they use. The day after is the worst, eating is practically impossible, i didnt think it would bother me so much, but i'd kill for a some solid food right now, its a little painfull after... its just more annoying than anything, i had mine done yesterday n its really gettin me pissed off, you basically cant do anything with it!!

i got my tongue pierced 3 days ago. this is my 3rd time having it done. theres nothing to it. if you have a thin tongue it wont be as bad while healing. your tongue will be extremly sore of course but with ibuprofin and sea salt mouthwash it will feel alot better. if you smoke your tongue may turn green or a yellowish color. if so, brush your tongue gently and you will see your tongue return to its normal color. after every meal, cigarette or drink (besides water) you should rinse your mouth out with the sea salt mouthwash. your tongue will be sore for awhile but its well worth the pain :)Keep it clean! Good Luck

I just got my tongue pierced two days ago.
The piercing is hilarious to get done, don't go with a guy yopu like to impress him, trust me it will just amke him laugh, you will probably drool like crazy, and if you anything like me, it does hurt quite a bit so some funny noises come out when your not expecting it.
Eating is a challenge, the first day i onyl had soup, and even the noodles couldnt be eaten, its tough becausr you confuse the barbell with food, but yesterday i had a chicken strip and was very excited, it took a long time to eat because i had to have small chunks but it was very exciting haha.
it's still very swollen and will be for the next few days so i sound mildly disabled but on the upside, for most of the day it doesnt hurt, near the end it gets a bit sore from talking.
I would definately recommend it, it's not bad at all, BUT MAKE SURE YOUR PARENTS KNOW, I'm terrified to see them in a couple days...might be dis-owned...hahah

I had mine done 3 days ago, its still really swollen and its started to go black even tho ive used mouthwash after smoking, eatin and drinkin. ive also been eatin loadsa ice lollies and drinking ice water. it still really hurts and i cant speak. Everyones tongue is different, your friend could get it done and it could go perfect but then you could and it could go the complete opposite. Think properly before you get it done e.g. what could go wrong, because i didnt.

hey, everyone my name is Lana, and from experiance i am going to lay it down like it is, the real deal with the tongue piercing...dun dun dun..

everyone is so crazy about the whole tongue piercing thing. its actually pretty cool and the tongs they use to hold your tongue do hurt more than the piercing. Ive had mine for 2 years people and just cuz you get one doesnt make you a slutt its just your choice of style dont listen to anyone else i mean unless you are a slutt, im just kidding.ok this is what happens,..Your tongue will swell for like 4 days dont be conserned if you can talk fine the first day and really bad the 2nd, its normal because of the swelling. you can eat hot soups, grapes if you can chew on the sides of your mouth cuz you will at some point forget that you have it and it hurts like a mother when you bite it, so try not to forget chicken broth is also good, i will say that like the first three days its gona be like fasting. you really cant eat much. and i do drink and smoke, its so not recomended for at least 2 weeks cuz of bad infections. Dont, dont, dont, eat or drink dairy for the first week youl be fine cuz you can get a nasty yeast infection dont listen to the whoe..you can eat ice cream cuz its cold crap.. yes eat ice and drink cold juices or water. rince after meals with listerine i know its stings like really bad but its worth it. Ive just heard so many different oppinions and sometimes there not accurate. well as long as you follow these pretty simple steps youl be fine. oh and make sure the person piercing your tongue pierces it from the bottom, cuz some do it from the top and thats so wrong cuz they can stab a vein. k after a week and a half your fine its kind of uncomfortable at first kuz theres a metal thingie going through your tongue all day up and down but its awesome. oh and its so not slutty! just dont flash it at everyone cuz then it does seem slutty.. k good luck and remember its your choice.

Mine, (as well as everyones' I know)was alittle sore around the pierced part(the hole), for a few days. You will get a milky susbstance around the hole for a few days also. That's normal. You HAVE keep it clean! Rinse with mouthwash after you eat, drink or smoke for at least a month afterwards. Ask your piercer for more info, they should have it anywhere you go.

If you take Advil or ibprofin three days before you get your tongue peirced there shouldnt be that much pain or it being swollen, i heard it from my friend who got it done. i have mine done and it didnt give me problems

I got mine done last night, and i am 15 years old. Mine personally, did not swell, hurt, etc. I have eaten spagetti today and ice cream. DO NOT eat ice. It will make it hurt worse. Talking has not been a problem at all. I recommend sitting in a chair with a back or against the wall. I almost passed out after it was done and my mom had to stop me. Deff recommend getting it done(:

If you take care of your piercing, make certain you keep it clean, you shouldn't have any problems in terms of infection. I've had my tongue pierced for a few years now with no trouble. As well, I wear plastic ball on both sides of my tongue instead of a metal one, which makes the possibility of tooth chipping virtually nonexistent, and be sure to keep them screwed in as tightly as possible.

I have two tngue rings and I say, if you know how to take care of it, you have nothing to worry about. And go get it done professionally, just because they're your friends does not make them experts.
