Help answer this question below.
Don't confuse dueling with mutual combat. Dueling was a deadly, illegal affair of honor in which you were willing to shed blood in the name of reputation. Also, don't confuse mutual combat with an act of self defense.Self defense is neutralizing a physical threat or attack. Mutual Combat involves an agreement by both fighters to have a fight for sport or profit or to settle differences. You cannot claim self defense if you have agreed up front to fight for whatever reason
I believe you are talking about organized "boxing".. If so, then you just need to look at the paychecks of the boxers to answer that.
A mutually agreed upon duel is not the same as a fight or assault. If I come up and challenge you to a duel and you disagree...well, that ends the physical confrontation. If you agree, we're consenting adults (I'm assuming you mean adults) who can set terms and determine how severe the outcome. This, to me, sounds much more civilized than Random Drunk Douchebag #1 taking off his shirt in the street and howling the word: "Pussy!" into the night. This is of course followed by Random Drunk Douchebag #2 also removing his shirt and howling the word: "Fag!" back.
Neither one of them realizing that they're subconsciously getting naked in order to touch one another.

You're reading Is mutual combat or fight, not to be confused with assault, an appropriate use of violence just as duels were in days bygone?
