Question

Help answer this question below.

My cat is very aggressive with me and with my other cat. He recently attacked my boyfriend as well.

I brought him home about 4 months ago after finding him coming out of a garbage bag. He weighed about 2 lbs, now weighs 13 and is still skinny! About 2 months ago he attacked my face, and I was so stunned I didnt do anything but yell a little. A few weeks later he did it again but got me really badly, I now have a scar on my cheek and 4 around my eye. He is always attacking my other cat and its not play fighting, I ended up having to take her to the vet for a really high fever because of this. I took him to the vet and he gave me ideas but they are not working. He also said not to use the squirt bottle or yell loudly at him. The other day he was meowing and my boyfriend knelt down to pat him and he lunged at his throat. We have him on clomicalm, and it had helped a bit but he will not stop stalking my cat, and this last attack happened after we've put him on the meds. I do not want to re home him because if he does this to someone he may wind up at the spca and I dont want him to live in a cage. If anybody has any ideas on what I can do, and/or what this might be anything would be helpful, I'm honestly a little afraid of my cat because of my scars on my face, and the fact that he goes after the face/throat. Also it's not playing, not in the least.

Thanks to all who took the time to read all that!!!!

I have a very aggressive kitten/ lion!! What i do is watch his movements you can normally tell when a cat is ready to attack. Dont get him wagging his tail confused with him being happy thats usually not the case. I would use the squirt bottle every time he shows aggression give him a good squirt(dont drench him) and tell him NO loud and firm. He has to learn that you are the ALPHA cat so to speak.Dont spank him as he will just get meaner or withdraw. you can always try kitty time out to, put him in the bathroom or bedroom and close the door and ignore him for awhile. Worse comes to worse you may want to consider getting kitty a big enough cage to live in. Please dont be afarid of him you are the pawrent. hope this helps.

Animals are sometimes aggressive when they are sick or in pain. Before addressing it as a behavioral issue take the kitty to the vet to determine if he/she is healthy.

I hope that this response helps and gets to you quickly before any other mishaps. I had a cat I adopted from a shelter. She was hit by a car and had lost an eye. This made her more aggressive towards other cats and people. She was singling out another of my female kittles, and I was starting to get worried because of her claws. I didn't need another kitty losing an eye.
I am not quite sure your vet opposed the idea of using a squirt bottle. I have owned many cats, and currently have 5. There is nothing inhumane about squirting a cat with a water bottle if they get out of hand or aggressive. When you squirt them with a stream of water, it stops them from carrying out their aggressive action. The most likely will just run away. Don't worry, this will NOT cause your cat to become fearful of you. If you spray the bottle without him seeing, he will have no idea where the water is coming from and assume, "if I am agressive, I will somehow become wet". Cats don't like being wet. Try spraying him in the butt (if you are behind him and catch him in an aggressive act) with a constant stream, not a mist. If he is being overly aggressive, and is trying to attack you or someone else, spray him directly in the face. It won't hurt him, it's just water. He will eventually get the point.
If he was a street/stray cat, like my Bella, he probably is a very untrusting cat. That can all be changed. Love, attention and loyalty (on your part), will help him calm down. Once he knows that you aren't going to give him away and you are there to love and care for him, it will help his behavior change. Cats need security just like people. It might take some time, but hang in there. Your kitty needs you and your love!

Its great to hear that there are people out there like you who will take the time to help a little kitty and not just give it up to a shelter just because he is having a difficult time adjusting. Kudos to you!
    Good luck!

This may sound a little weird and it may not work in this case..but I have got quite few cats from shelters and i always put a little butter on their paws and supposedlly the taste and the action of licking it off makes them feel secure and at home..granted you want to put them in a room with linoleum floors as it could be messy ..maybe a bathroom where you could close the door, thats what I have always done..this method has been passed down from my grandmother and has always calmed down a shall we say a special needs cat. Also although I don't like the idea, but for the safety of all concerned get him declawed but if you have to do that I hope you will keep him inside as he will not be able to defend himself.
