Internet modem worked with old HP desktop on xp. Cant connect to internet with new Dell desktop on vista. Wireless still works, help?

    Every time you change from one computer to another computer your cable or DSL modem needs to be unplugged for 30 seconds and then plugged in. Many internet tech support help desks will refer to this as a power cycle. If you are going through a router you will need to unplug the power to your router at the same time as your modem, plug in the modem first and insure it is online before plugging in your router. If the modem is not online before your router, the fire wall in the router will block the internet.
