Which lymphocytes are cells that attack cancer cells and cells infected by viruses? Is it cytotoxic T cells or Killer T cells?

    In regard to cancer cells, generally the body does not detect that they are a problem, that is why they grow so big and need external help to kill them.
    Cytotoxic T cells (aka killer T cells) kill target cells (often cells infected by virus) with direct contact with lymphotoxins.
    This is from my Anatomy text.
