The FJ Cruiser is rated to tow 5,000 lbs., which is about the average weight of an average fishing boat and trailer, so if you're talking just the law of averages, it's a good towing vehicle.
On the Other: No, it sure doesn't!
Maxing out at 5,000 lbs. means that you're going to have to take a second car for all of your other gear on that boat trip to go fishing--like fishing poles, fishing tackle, life jackets, food, clothing--and more importantly, people.
Bottom Line
For an all-around performer, the FJ cruiser has a decent towing capacity, but for large-scale towing needs you'll be best served with a different vehicle.
