Light Emitting Diodes (LED) lights grow plants using less heat and energy than white light. The bulbs stay cool causing less water usage and less damage to the plants due to close exposure of hot bulbs. LED lights have no filament, and therefore cannot overheat when in constant use.

On the Other: LED Lighting Is Expensive

LED lighting is expensive. It typically takes three to four years for LED lights to pay for themselves. Most lamps and bulbs are not guaranteed, which can cause the price of using LED lighting to be even more costly if replacement is needed.

    Bottom Line

Some LED bulbs last up to fifteen years, and therefore are worth the investment. LED lighting is safer around children and pets than other lighting systems, due to the cool bulbs. LED lighting uses very small amounts of energy. Also, plants grow as well with LED lighting as they do with other lighting.
