Tests conducted by Pacbell.net showed that a cellular antenna booster does actually add up to a single bar of reception to a cell phone. For analog cell phones, the booster also cut down on static.
On the Other: Results Aren't Miraculous
The testers found that the cell antenna did everything that the advertisements claimed it would, just not to the degree that people were lead to believe.
Bottom Line
While a cell antenna does provide added signal strength to your cell phone, it may not be necessary in areas that already have good cellular coverage. For those who live near dead zones though, or in cities with tall, concrete buildings, the antenna may be a good purchase.
