  • The treadmill is one of the most popular items found in many homes across the country. Indeed, there are many positive health benefits to the treadmill if used regularly and properly. But, there is one little thing that many people are not in love with about their treadmill: the noise. Some of the newer treadmills have been made to counteract this problem, but not all. You can make your treadmill just a little less noisy so your workout can be a lot more enjoyable.

    WD-40

One of the culprits of your noisy treadmill may be that it is getting a little rusty. An easy fix for this is a little WD-40. All you have to do is identify where the creaking or rubbing sounds are coming from on your treadmill and spray the WD-40 on those areas. There are a number of places your treadmill may be making annoying noises including the handle bars, the bottom or even around the sides of your treadmill. To test whether the WD-40 has worked, take a jog on your treadmill until you have identified all of the areas that are making noise. Repeat the process until you have sprayed all of those areas.

    A Rug

Another problem could be the walking belt of your treadmill. The vibrations from the machine onto your walking belt may sometimes cause unwanted noise to occur. If this is the case, get a solid mat or thick rug that can take a little more of the shock from the vibration of your treadmill.

    Proper Maintenance

You should keep your treadmill well maintained. Proper maintenance ensures the lifespan of your treadmill. One of the biggest reasons for treadmill noise is improper maintenance. The noise can come from a broken part, a loose bolt or any number of other reasons. If you can't identify what the noise is yourself, you should have a handy friend or family member take a look at the machine. Many companies offer a warranty, can send out a repair person or can help you find a repair person in your area. Take advantage of all of your resources to avoid more damage and to quiet the machine.
