There are numerous websites that claim honey is an effective skin mole or nevus remover. These websites claim if you place honey on a mole morning and night eventually the mole will fade away or disappear. They say that it is a low cost way to remove moles for cosmetic purposes and that surgery is an unnecessary and expensive procedure.

On the Other: No Medical Proof

Many of the websites that claim honey is an effective mole remover do not have any proof that it does in fact work. The evidence is based on people saying that the remedy is effective, but no studies have been done. Many dermatology or medical based websites recommend getting moles checked out by a doctor and removed by means of surgery or laser.

    Bottom Line

If you are looking for an alternative to surgery for a mole that you want removed for cosmetic purposes trying honey will not hurt. Even if honey doesn't work as a mole remover, it is a great conditioner for the skin. However it is best to get moles checked out by a dermatologist to make sure they are not cancerous. If cancerous moles are left untreated then the cancer can spread to other parts of the body. Trying to use home remedies on a mole that could possibly be a melanoma could be potentially dangerous or fatal.
