Cingular Wireless, as of 2006, is a fully owned subsidiary of the telephone company AT&T. Cingular maintains the same ownership it had before the AT&T buyout, as SBC Communications purchased the AT&T Wireless name in 2004 and, as AT&T, acquired BellSouth in 2006. The BellSouth acquisition gave AT&T ownership of Cingular Wireless.
