A pool with a pH well below 7.0 needs sodium hypochlorite. For every 2,000 gallons of pool water, a quarter cup of sodium hypochlorite should be added to the water to raise the pH by a 10th of a point.

    On the Other: Algae Removal

Algae can also make pool water look green. Check the surfaces for green growth and scrub it off before adding granulated chlorine, diluted in a 5 gallon bucket of water, to the pool.

    Bottom Line

A green pool may be caused by a pH imbalance or algae. The pH in a pool should be between 7.2 and 7.6 and the chlorine level should be between 1.0 and 3.0 parts per million (PPM).
