Whether you want to play games in style or share movies with the family on a larger screen, there are many benefits to connecting your PC and TV together. There are a few ways to go about doing this, each of which only takes a few minutes and a few computer cords.

VGA Cables

Many modern HDTVs and even non-HD flat-screen televisions have VGA ports, as do most computer video cards. If your computer is relatively close to your television, you can run a VGA cable between your computer's video card and your television set. Note that as VGA becomes older more and more high-end video cards are switching exclusively to DVI connections, so you may have to invest in a DVI to VGA converter, which is usually relatively inexpensive.

Wireless Network

If you have a high-end television with a wireless Internet connection, you can tie your PC and your TV together through your home's wireless network. All this requires is a wireless router and the software disk that comes with your television. Simply install the drivers on your computer from the disk, allow your router to sync your TV and your PC together, and you can stream videos from your PC to your television. Bear in mind that televisions with this sort of equipment are highly expensive.

TV Tuner Cards

If you are looking for an all-in-one solution, use your computer monitor as your television. This can be easily done by either using your television set as a computer monitor or by investing in a television tuner expansion card that will allow you to watch a full range of television networks straight from your monitor. Furthermore, with programs like Windows Media Center, your PC also doubles as a DVR, so you can save your favorite programs directly to your computer.
