<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Scalp Med Contains Minoxidil
While Scalp Med's website, scalpmed.com, claims FDA approval for some of its ingredients, only minoxidil is actually FDA approved. And indeed, minoxidil is effective in regrowing hair in some instances, according to the FDA. The FDA states that it is effective in growing hair on the top of the scalp. The other ingredients listed by Scalp Med seem to have little to add for hair growth.
On the Other: Scalp Med is Expensive
The Bald One--an online source for reviews of hair growth products--noted that Scalp Med has only limited success in hair growth, especially in comparison to competing products. In addition, since the primary active ingredient is minoxidil, the cost of Scalp Med seems very high compared to similar products; nearly seven times more according to hair-loss.org.
Bottom Line
Any product containing minoxidil will have some success in growing hair, since that ingredient has been approved by the FDA as effective. However, cautious consumers question the high cost of Scalp Med.
