Most commonly used for mailing packages and in industry, a counting scale is not something that everyone comes in contact with, or knows upon sight. What is a counting scale's capacity, and how are they used?
Definition
A counting scale uses weight information produced on its weighing sensor to compile another conversion, or to count the number of weights it has received.
Use
Items are placed on a counting scale, removed, and replaced with another object. Depending on the scale's programming configuration, the scale will calculate the volume or weight, or run a tabulation on postage or other required information.
Industry
Counting scales can be found in offices, used for tabulating postage totals or number of packages. Another use is in manufacturing, allowing a workshop to calculate how many pieces produced. Pharmacies use sensitive counting scales to prevent accidental over- or under-filling of prescriptions.
Purchase
Online retailers offer small counting scales for use at home in mailing packages for an online business, or high-capacity scales for use in heavy industry.
Pricing
Costs for scales can vary widely, based on the size, precision and calculation ability of the scale.
