Veterinarian technicians do a variety of different jobs and their duties can change from day to day. A vet technician's duties really depend on the environment that he's working in.
Animal Care
In almost all settings, vet technicians are responsible for taking care of the animals in the clinic. This includes feeding them and cleaning up after them.
Behavior
If you are a vet technician working in a research laboratory, you may be responsible for monitoring and recording the behavior of the animals.
Clinic
In a clinical setting, the vet technician is responsible for helping the vet diagnose and treat animals. He may also be responsible for filing all the paperwork used at the clinic.
Shots
Many vet technicians are required to obtain training that allows them to administer shots to animals.
X-rays
A vet technician must also be trained in operating an X-ray machine. They usually make the X-ray, while the veterinarian is responsible for deciphering them.
