  • Headers are tubular exhaust manifolds designed to get an engine's exhaust gasses out of the motor as quickly as possible, allowing the engine to make more power. Headers are often coated with a special ceramic material, for a number of reasons.

    Less Heat

The primary purpose of ceramic coating on headers is to reduce the amount of heat produced by the headers. This in turn reduces the heat that reaches nearby components, lessening the stresses on these parts from heat soak.

    Durability

Ceramic-coated headers last longer than headers painted or wrapped with header tape. The coating is a highly rust resistant and durable material.

    Performance

Heat is a major enemy of horsepower, and engines that have their headers coated with ceramic on the inside and outside may see a slight increase in power.

    Aesthetics

Ceramic coating is available in different shades, with white and silver being two of the most common. The smooth appearance of these headers looks great in a detailed engine bay.

    Cleaning

Compared to headers wrapped with header tape or not coated at all, ceramic-coated headers are far easier to keep clean. Simply spray on a mild degreaser and then wipe them down with a rag.
