    Professionally Researched. (What's this?)

Life insurance dates back to ancient Rome, in which "burial clubs" would pay for burial services if a person bought a membership in the club. In recent times however, modern life insurance started in England during the 17th century, when underwriters met at the famous Lloyd's Coffee House to discuss business. This business was a precursor to the famous Lloyd's of London insurance company.
