When you apply for an auto insurance policy, your agent will ask you a long list of questions before submitting your application. There is a variety of information that must be disclosed when buying a car insurance policy.
Motor Vehicle Violations
You must tell your insurance company about any motor vehicle violations within the past 3 years. Although there is some room for error, significant omissions can cause your insurer to cancel your policy.
Accidents
Disclose all accidents on your application, regardless of whether you were at fault. Insurers use accident information to properly rate your policy.
Household Drivers
Insurance companies will ask about people living in your household who are of legal driving age. They will want you to either add licensed household drivers to your policy or sign a waiver excluding them from coverage.
Health Conditions
Although insurance companies cannot discriminate based on disability, they do want to know about conditions or medications that could impair your ability to drive.
Vehicles
Insurers want to know about all of the vehicles in your household, regardless of whether you are insuring them under your policy.
