Criminologists are responsible for providing a great deal of knowledge pertaining to the study of policing, police policies and police administration. They are also responsible for evaluating psychological, social, cultural and biological determinants of crime.
Outreach
Some criminologists evaluate and study local, state and federal initiatives to reduce crime and improve relations within the community with police forces.
School
Some criminologists conduct their research in an academic setting while also teaching courses related to sociology, criminology and legal studies.
Politicians
Criminologist sometimes work closely with a group of politicians and advise them on the merits of various policy prescriptions relating to law enforcement.
Private Practices
Many criminologists work as consultants, providing their expertise in areas such as crime statistics, juvenile justice and law reform.
Education
To become a criminologist, you must complete at least a two-year masters program. Many criminologists obtain further education, often getting their Phds.
