  • When you are feeling self-confident, you are "King of the World" just like Leonardo DiCaprio's character in the movie "Titanic." You believe you can do anything because you trust your abilities, judgment and power to make something happen for you.

    Faith in You

Self-confident people are people we admire, like Thomas Edison, who believed he could invent a light bulb. It took three thousand theories and two years of testing and often failing, but Edison trusted in his abilities to create an incandescent light--so he did.

    Glass Is Half-Full

Norman Vincent Peale said that as a youth he had "the worst inferiority complex of all," yet he went on to become a bestselling author, the "Guideposts" magazine founder, and pastor to hundreds of thousands on TV and radio. Self-confident people know positive thoughts bolster self-esteem.

    No Confidence

Everyone goes through stages of self-confidence--even Mr. Edison had his down moments when he felt he could not accomplish his goal. Sometimes you feel like opening a drawer and crawling into your "comfort zone," where you don't take any risks and no one can hurt you.

    Building Your Confidence

Building self-confidence during your comfort zone times means reflecting on how you feel about yourself. What are your talents and strengths? What do you want to achieve and what have you done so far?

    Being the Best You

When you are working your way out of your comfort zone, try doing small steps and learning your mistakes as Mr. Edison did. Keep optimistic about your goals and plans as Mr. Peale did and you will be surprised at how self-confident you can be.
