1) "The markings on the coats are different - the Cheetah has solid spots on its body whereas the leopard has a rosette pattern.
The Cheetah has longer legs than the leopard to help it run at speed.
The Cheetahs tail is a lot larger than the leopard - this is because the cheetah uses it as a rudder when running

2) "Compared to a similarly-sized leopard, the cheetah is generally shorter-bodied, but is longer tailed and taller (it averages about 90 cm (35 in) tall) and so it appears more streamlined."
"While it is often mistaken for the leopard, the cheetah does have distinguishing features, such as the aforementioned long "tear-streak" lines that run from the corners of its eyes to its mouth. The body frame of the cheetah is also very different from that of the leopard, most notably so in its thinner and longer tail and, unlike the leopard's, its spots are not arranged into rosettes."
"The Caress (1896), by the Belgian symbolist painter Fernand Khnopff (1858–1921), is a representation of the myth of Oedipus and the Sphinx and portrays a creature with a woman's head and a cheetah's body (often misidentified as a leopard's)."

One is spotted and the other has Rosettes .
The Cheetah is smaller and much faster. Other than that they are both breeds of large cat.
Cheetah

The Cheetah is the fastest land animal on earth. It cannot climb trees and, unlike most other cats, it's claws are permanently "out" for traction... like the spikes on a sprinter's shoes. Cheetahs are not good fighters and will surrender a kill to other predators when challenged.

Leopard
Leopards, on the other hand, are excellent fighters and tree-climbers and are known for carrying heavy carcasses of their kills up trees.

The cheetah has black "tear marks" on its face. Its face is longer, and it has an overall much lighter build. Its claws do not retract. It's not very good at climbing trees, so if it's in a tree it's probably a leopard. It's the fastest land animal, but it won't matter to you whether it's a leopard or a cheetah that's running after you - both are much faster than you can dream of being. The leopard is bigger and heavier, and its spots are arranged in a particular pattern. It's an excellent tree climber and will attack by jumping out of trees, then carry the prey up the tree again. Avoid standing under trees with a tail hanging from the branches.
