• Go to IRS.gov and check it out. Consoldidated tax records are publci records. Let me give you some free advice: you should actually have evidence to support your viewpoints, otherwise you just look ignorant, or worse, a radical with an illogical agenda.

• FYI: I am a lawyer by trade. Thus, unlike most, it is very easy for me to spot lies and illogical arguments. And your last comment makes it readily clear that you did not look at the IRS website (nor did you bother to respond to my point). This is clear because the IRS website provides data, not arbitrary definitions of “rich” and “poor.” Therefore, your conclusion that you are “in the RICH category” is merely a conclusion you made up to argue your agenda.
  
  Let me repeat my comment (and I suggest you read it this time): “The top ten percent of the population pay over 70% of the taxes. How is that not more than their fair share?”
  
  Again, if 10% (i.e. small minority) of wage earners are paying 70% (i.e. a substantial majority) of taxes, how are they not paying their fair share? Those top 10% of wage earners do not consume more public resources than any other wage earner. In fact, those top 10% of wage earners usually consume less public resources.

• There is none so blind as he who will not see. You have to know some basic math, but the information is freely available on the IRS website.
  
  Although, I am starting to suspect that you don’t know how to research anything yourself, and instead rely on liberal news sources for all your information.
  
  Since you obviously don’t know how to collect data, here is a source that did the crunching for you (note this is from 2007):

  “The top 1 percent of taxpayers (AGI over $364,657) earned approximately 21.2 percent of the nation's income (as defined by AGI), yet paid 39.4 percent of all federal income taxes. That means the top 1 percent of tax returns paid about the same amount of federal individual income taxes as the bottom 95 percent of tax returns.”
  
  And if you go to page 2 of the report, you will see a chart of the percentage of taxes paid by each group. You shall notice (if you bother to click on the link) that the top 10% of wage earners pay 70.30% of all income taxes paid.
  
  But keep denying it. It only makes you look ignorant and undermines your whole position.

  Do you notice the difference between your two statements? I do.
  
  There is a difference between ALL Taxes paid, and Federal INCOME taxes. Obviously your forte as a lawyer is not Tax Law. What constitutes the top 10% of income for federal income tax purposes:

  Now according to MY last tax return for federal Income level (adjusted) I exceed that amount. Meaning I am in the top 10%. And I still say we need to pay our fair share.

• Perhaps you are correct that I should have been more precise in my language. However, since we were talking about “fair share” among the rich and other brackets, most people would realize that we were comparing income taxes. However, your whole comment is nothing but a red herring to avoid the merits of my point. So I will ask again using more precise language:
  
  If the top 10% of wage earners pay over 70% of all federal taxes collected from wage earners, how is that not paying their fair share?
  
  And FYI: Your report does not cover ALL TAXES PAID. It covers state and local taxes. The report I provided covers FEDERAL TAXES.

  There is no "perhaps" about it Mr. Humility. What Merits? You got caught in a lie and now you're backpedaling.
  
  Define "Fair Share". That alone would be a nice "precise" place to begin.
  My reports included a helluva lot more than your own 'selected' facts. Remember, and I quote: "The top ten percent of the population pay over 70% of the taxes. " Now how is THAT a misquote?
  
  Once again, I'm in the top 10%. And I say, us top 10% need to pay our fair share. Because during the Bu$h years I saw less taxes being paid, and the National Debt going through the ceiling.
