If your camera doesn't have a setting for black and white and you don't have any image editing software you won't be able to do anything other than the default setup on your camera.
If you need an image editing program that will allow you to make all sorts of enhancements to your photographs I recommend GimpShop, which is available for free download here:

Most cameras have a color function built into the settings menu somewhere. If yours doesn't have one, you'll have to change them to black and white using computer software once you import your photos.

Most digital cameras have effects built into them such as black and white, sepia, paint and a few others. You need to look through the user manual and see what is available. They are usually found in the meny system so just find the one you want and select it. Having said that, it is better to shoot in colour first and then do effects on the computer later in case you don't like.

when you are ready to take a picture see if there is a button on your camera that says 'options'... select it, then go throughthe options and try to find 'color' or 'appearance'. try one of those, maybe that'll help
