Specifically, the LdS Church changed later editions of the Book of Mormon from its original (1830) wording in 1 Nephi 11:21 as follows:
1830 First Edition:
"And the Angel said unto me, behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the Eternal Father!"
(page 25 - see scan here http://www.inephi.com/25.htm)
Later editions:
"And the Angel said unto me, behold the Lamb of God, yea, even the son of the Eternal Father!"
(see official LdS Church website here http://scriptures.lds.org/en/1_ne/11/21c)

You're reading MORMONS: Why was 1 Nephi 11:21 changed in the BoM from "the Lamb of God, yea, even the Eternal Father!" to "THE SON of the Eternal Father!"

Thank you for your answer.
Of course the problem here isn't that the change reflects a minor refinement or editorial change - it reflects a MAJOR doctrinal change in regard to Mormon Christology.

Specifically it moves Mormonism from Biblical orthodoxy into heresy by denying both the Trinity and Christ's divinity.
So, no, this was a "small change" it was a Tsunami - theologically speaking.
