  • Although most people understand how important it is to have a healthy and normal blood pressure, many people do not know what a healthy blood pressure range actually is. Your blood pressure should be checked regularly to ensure you maintain a blood pressure within the healthy range.

    Identification

Blood pressure readings are measured and recorded as two numbers, which are written as a ration. The top number is the systolic pressure, while the bottom number is the diastolic pressure.

    Systolic Pressure

The systolic pressure is a measure of the pressure inside the arteries when the heart is contracting during a heartbeat. Normal systolic blood pressure ranges between 110 and 130, although 120 is the ideal systolic blood pressure.

    Diastolic Pressure

The diastolic pressure measures the pressure inside the arteries when the heart is relaxing between heartbeats. Normal diastolic blood pressure is between 75 and 85, with 80 being the ideal diastolic pressure.

    Hypertension

Hypertension occurs when you have consistently high blood pressure. Although most cases of hypertension can be treated with medications, if your systolic pressure becomes higher than 180 and./or your diastolic pressure becomes higher than 110, immediate medical attention is necessary.

    Hypotension

On the other hand, hypotension is when you have consistently low blood pressure. Although your body may be able to function properly with low blood pressure, it becomes extremely dangerous when your systolic pressure drops below 50 and your diastolic pressure is lower than 33.
