  • Florida no-fault insurance is personal injury protection (PIP) insurance. It works in a different way than regular PIP insurance, because of medical expenses it covers. Along with the broad coverage the policy allows, there are restrictions and limits to that coverage.

    All Personal Injury

Florida no-fault PIP insurance covers the medical expenses of anyone injured in an accident, regardless of who is at fault in the collision. This can include you, your passengers or the driver and anyone outside your vehicle who is injured.

    Lost Wages

The Florida PIP plan offers coverage for lost wages, up to the limit of the policy.

    Pain and Suffering

Unlike some other PIP insurance policies, Florida no-fault PIP insurance does not cover pain and suffering.

    Florida PIP Limits

The State of Florida requires that you purchase a minimum $10,000 of PIP insurance for all vehicles. If you purchase more than the minimum amount of coverage, the policy pays more for medical expenses and lost wages.

    Kids on a Bus

The no-fault PIP policy also extends to your children when they are riding on a school bus. If an accident occurs while your children are on the bus, the PIP policy covers the medical expenses.

    Outside of Florida

If an accident with injuries occurs outside of the state of Florida, the PIP policy pays for the injuries of you and members of your household who are in your car. If you are at fault in the accident, it also pays for the injuries of the passengers in the other vehicle, just like regular PIP insurance.
