Depending on the type of farming that a person does, modern day farmers perform a wide variety of task and duties that are related to agricultural production. Some of those jobs include managing farmlands, crop production and even price monitoring.
Workers
There are many types of farming operations that include dairy, cattle and the traditional crop farm. Regardless of the type of farming that a worker performs, they usually begin their day before sunrise and work long hours into the evening.
Agricultural Managers
Agricultural managers are farm supervisors who administer the daily operations of one or more farms. Modern farms have to be supervised like businesses. Agricultural managers have to monitor the markets, establish production goals and constantly plan ahead for risk associated with operations.
Farm Hands
A farm that grows crops such as corn or wheat usually has farm hands to help. Farm hands harvest crops, plant crops, operate and repair machinery, fertilize and cultivate the plants. They also make sure that crops are packaged, stored and then set up to be marketed.
Dairy and Ranchers
Dairy farmers and ranchers normally feed and care for animals, keep farming buildings clean, and operate machinery plus equipment that is associated with their area of farming.
Marketing Activities
Marketing activities have become such an integral part of the modern farming experience that without it, many farms could not exist. Farmers produce food products, and these products have to be packaged, stored and transported to markets.
