<h4 class="dechead">On One Hand: Questionable Manufacturer
StriVectin, marketed by Klein-Becker, claims to be an anti-wrinkle cream. The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has investigated Klein-Becker for making unsubstantiated claims about some of its other products, including PediaLean, a weight loss formula for children. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) does not monitor sales of non-prescription medications. For this reason, the only testing that has been done on StriVectin has been done by Klein-Becker.
On the Other: It Won't Hurt You
StriVectin has not been reported to harm anyone and no ill side effects have been reported to the FDA. However, any result seen by StriVectin is temporary. The product was originally made to reduce the appearance of stretch marks, but a study showed 75 percent of people purchasing it used it on facial wrinkles, which is harmless.
Bottom Line
If you'd like to try StriVectin, research shows it won't hurt you. However, it is very expensive (about $135 for 6 ounces). If you're concerned about aging, your money might be better spent at a plastic surgeon's office, eating healthy and avoiding too much sun.
