Comprehensive car insurance is a type of property damage insurance you can purchase separately from collision insurance. This type of insurance provides coverage for your car due to damage that occurs in some way other than an automobile collision.
Storm and Flood Damage
If your car is damaged by a flood or storm, your comprehensive car insurance policy covers the damage.
Crime
A comprehensive policy covers any damage that occurs to your car as the result of vandalism. If your car is stolen, the comprehensive policy pays to replace your car.
Road Related Damages Other Than Collisions
If the tire of another vehicle throws a rock and cracks or shatters your windshield, your comprehensive car insurance policy pays to repair or replace the windshield. This applies to other damages that occur on the road that are not related to a collision.
Animal Damage
Damage caused by animals, including striking an animal while driving, are included in comprehensive car insurance package.
Fire and Explosion
Comprehensive car insurance covers damage from the perils of fires and explosions.
Civil Unrest
If your car is damaged or destroyed in the course of a riot or other type of civil unrest, your comprehensive policy pays for the damage or loss.
