  • An iron-bound cart cost about 4 shillings and a draft horse to pull it cost between 10 and 20 shillings in the middle ages. For comparison, a simple laborer would make 2 pounds, or 40 shillings, a year while a master craftsman could make 3 to 6 pence a day, or 90 to 180 shillings a year.
