Types

There are two main versions of Lytec software: Lytec and Lytec MD.

Function

Office managers and clerical workers in a physicians' office use Lytec for setting patient appointments, scheduling staff, submitting claims to insurance companies and billing customers. Lytec MD performs the same functions as Lytec, but also contains a function for storing patient medical records in an electronic form.

Features

Both versions of Lytec allow office personnel to print financial statements, such as monthly income, expenses and insurance reimbursements. Lytec software programs use password protection and can limit the ability of users to change financial or medical data, increasing security.

Benefits

Because the software allows doctors to submit insurance claims electronically, Lytec often results in quicker payment. Using Lytec MD to manage medical records cuts down on paper and filing and allows for quick retrieval of information.

Lytec and Lytec MD both operate on Windows-based computers. McKesson provides technical support for its software by phone from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. eastern standard time, Monday through Friday, according to the company's website.
