According to MSNBC, foster parents pay more to care for a child than what they are actually reimbursed. The amount is dependent upon the age of the child and the state in which you live. In 2007, the average monthly reimbursement amount for a 2-year-old foster child was $488, while the reimbursement for a 16-year-old was $568.
