That's a holdover, basically, from AB 1.0 when the staff routinely edited questions for clarity, spelling, and grammar. Back then, questions flowed into ABHQ once in a while, not at the frentic pace they storm in now. I can see why that disclaimer is still present, though. Fact is, the staff can and does edit questions sometimes - if a user gives feedback about those questions.

It does happen, one of my older questions was edited. How they edited it wasn't much different than how I posted it.
