The many different types of auto insurance policies provide different types of coverage. In most cases, the vehicle is covered by the policy, regardless of who is driving it.
Bodily Injury Liability
If someone is driving your vehicle and they are at fault in an auto accident in which another person is injured as a result, your bodily injury liability policy will pay for medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering of the other person.
Property Damage Liability
If someone is driving your vehicle and they are at fault in an accident in which the property of another person is damaged, your property damage liability policy will pay to repair or replace the damaged property.
Collision
A collision policy covers a particular automobile in the event of a collision. If your automobile is damaged in an auto accident, your collision policy will pay for the repair or replacement of your vehicle.
Comprehensive
A comprehensive policy covers any loss or damage that is not related to an auto collision. If your automobile is damaged due to weather, or is stole or broken into, your comprehensive policy will pay for any loss or damage.
Uninsured Bodily Injury
If anyone in your automobile is injured in an automobile accident that is caused by a driver who does not have insurance, your uninsured bodily injury policy will pay for the medical expenses incurred.
Uninsured Property Damage
If another driver hits your automobile and is not insured, your uninsured property damage policy will pay to repair or replace your vehicle.
