According to a study conducted by the Photobiology Laboratory of the Medical University of South Africa, after 4 weeks bio-oil reduced the appearance of scars in 65 percent of the subjects used in the study. Bio-oil contains Vitamin E which has been clinically proven to act as a barrier to oxygen, and shield skin against wrinkling and breakage. Vitamin E, together with other ingredients in Bio-oil, help to keep skin moisturized and soften the appearance of acne scars.
On the Other: Bio-oil Does Not Eliminate the Appearance of Scars
While bio-oil does reduce the appearance of acne scars, it does not eliminate them entirely.
Bottom Line
Using Bio-oil on your skin will decrease the appearance of acne scars; however, it will not rid you of the scars altogether.
