The term "2 megapixels" describes the resolution of a picture taken from a digital camera. When a camera stores a picture into memory, it breaks the image into small pieces, call "pixels" (picture elements). A 2 megapixel camera breaks each picture into 2 million pixels. As the number of pixels increases, the quality of the picture increases.
